one of the things i should not be doing after O's

I just got back from attending a talk at UBD
I'm not surprised that only about 20 people turned up
It was about
South Western Sri Lanka's tropical rain forest and biodiversity hoptspot
(i have no idea what that means either) given by
Nimal Gunatilleke.
No offence la but its hard to understand something so new from someone's accent that you can't catch.

The beginning was just all about statistics, graphs and charts; and about how the earth's crust was broken up and so on.
-------------------------------------------------------------
And the ONLY interesting part was about animals
Sri Lankan elephants
There's even an elephant orphanage
because of conflicts between villagers and wild life.
When and if the mother elephants get shot by the villagers
and the baby elephants are sent to the orphanages
-------------------------------------------------------------
Sri Lanka draws alot of Dragonfly watchers
cause they have 52 different types of dragonflies
that are not found anywhere else in the world
-------------------------------------------------------------
And there's this unusual frog (Philautus)
that lays eggs on leaves or bury them under the soil
and the tadpoles develop in the egg itself
-------------------------------------------------------------
The Serendip Scops is the most recently discovered owl
Looks kinda like Harry Potter's owl doesn't it??
xD
-------------------------------------------------------------
And these freaking SNAIL SHELLS
can be sold at 6 euros per piece
-------------------------------------------------------------
Then he continues more abt statistics....
Well tomorrow there's one about spiders and their habitat and how they hunt
Would be so much better.
Anyone wanna go??
It's at
Room FSM 2.18
Facaulty of Science
University of Brunei Darussalam
