Secrets that waiters don't tell you

1. Avoid eating out on holidays and Saturday nights. The sheer volume of customers guarantees that most kitchens will be pushed beyond their ability to produce a high-quality dish.
-

2. There are almost never any sick days in the restaurant business. A busboy with a kid to support isn't going to stay home and miss out on $100 because he's got strep throat. And these are the people handling your food.
True. For me to take just one day off is painful cause that is the money we need to live on.
Plus each waiter is only given a certain number of days in A YEAR to have a sick leave.

-
3. When customers' dissatisfaction devolves into personal attacks, adulterating food or drink is a convenient way for servers to exact covert vengeance. Some waiters can and do spit in people's food.
I know certain people who are impatient and start complaining and asking waiters to do stupid stunts just because the food came late. How can you bloody blame the waiter for that??
You're not being superior or funny. You're just embarassing your guests.
-
4. Never say "I'm friends with the owner." Restaurant owners don't have friends. This marks you as a clueless poseur the moment you walk in the door.
I don't get this one.
But even if you do say that you know the owner, it makes no difference.
-
5. Treat others as you want to be treated.
Yes, people need to be reminded of this.
I've experienced being shoo-ed by the customer
or even have eyes rolling at me by ppl i know just because i'm working.
I also don't take childish and fussy attitudes lightly when I'm eating out with someone.
Its an embarassment!!
-
6. Don't snap your fingers to get our attention. Remember, we have shears that cut through bone in the kitchen.
-
7. Don't order meals that aren't on the menu. You're forcing the chef to cook something he doesn't make on a regular basis. If he makes the same entrée 10,000 times a month, the odds are good that the dish will be a home run every time.
Only unless the food USED to be on the menu.
-
8. Splitting entrées is okay, but don't ask for water, lemon, and sugar so you can make your own lemonade. What's next, grapes so you can press your own wine?
this is a really pathetic attempt to skip out on paying the bill.
if you don't want to pay, then don't eat out.
-
From no. 9 to 12 doesnt apply in Brunei. But its important to know when you go overseas.
-
9. If you find a waiter you like, always ask to be seated in his or her section. Tell all your friends so they'll start asking for that server as well. You've just made that waiter look indispensable to the owner. The server will be grateful and take good care of you.
We don't accept tip so it doesnt matter who we serve.
One table can have 5 different waiters serving.
-
10. If you can't afford to leave a tip, you can't afford to eat in the restaurant. Servers could be giving 20 to 40 percent to the busboys, bartenders, maître d', or hostess.
-
11. Always examine the check. Sometimes large parties are unaware that a gratuity has been added to the bill, so they tip on top of it. Waiters "facilitate" this error. It's dishonest, it's wrong-and I did it all the time.
Some high class restaurants already have service charge.
So it is unnecassary to leave tip.
-
12. If you want to hang out, that's fine. But increase the tip to make up for money the server would have made if he or she had had another seating at that table.
All tips that you leave usually go into the cash register as 'keep the change'
unless you personally give the money to the hands of the waiter.
-
13. Never, ever come in 15 minutes before closing time. The cooks are tired and will cook your dinner right away. So while you're chitchatting over salads, your entrées will be languishing under the heat lamp while the dishwasher is spraying industrial-strength, carcinogenic cleaning solvents in their immediate vicinity

meeting the parents

A supposed simple BBQ party became the scariest night of my life.
This is the first time ever that I'm meeting the parents of my boyfriend.
I already knew that his mum doesn't really like me due to some past incident.
-
But when I saw her today, my body just started to tense up and getting all panicky.
Then I heard her talking to Wendy and asking where she lives and stuff.
So I had like all the false answers planned in my head. Instead of saying I live near here, I'll go I live at blablabla...
-
And when the time actually came, my mind wouldn't function and the truth jsut spilled out
I felt like at idiot!!
Then I just answered everything else with, 'uh-huh', 'ok', *nod head*. But after every sentence I would just look away cause I can't bloody face her dammit!!
-
Helmi heard the conversation over his mum and dad

mum: did you see that girl wearing black??
dad: yea..
mum: thats her.

Then a while later the dad came out again. looked at everyone, everyone just said 'Hi Uncle'.
He smiled and when he saw me, he directly looked at me and smiled bigger than before.
Helmi and Mateen immediately covered their face trying not to laugh cause his dad was making it so obvious. LOL.
-
We started roasting marshmallows and I sat down to enjoy them.
But...dan dan dan dan~ his mum came out again.I grabbed 2 marshmallows, ran over to the grill and starting roasting them.thats how scared I was ok!! >.< -
then Helmi started talking with his mum..

mum: so thats her.

him: did you talk to her?

mum: yea but she just nod

him: she's scared of you

mum: yea i know. she didn't even wanna look at me.

him: so?

mum: so....finish lah.just dont forget your studies and she looks like a good
girl

him: of course

mum: *laughs*

me??good girl?? roight~ hahahaha.
she probably got the idea from the fact that I couldnt even lie abt where I live.

King of Pop, Michael Jackson

died on Thursday, 25th June 2009 at age 50

He died of cardiac arrest. With all his crazy plastic surgery and skin whitening, we all knew he wasn't gonna live up to the age he wanted to-150.-

His death was shocking but still expected. Reminded me of the death of Steve Irwin who passed away 3 years ago. Doing crazy stunts which will inevitably end their lives one way or another.

-

I still remember when I was in Kindegarden and my teacher asked me who was my favourite singer. I said Michael Jackson. I didn't know about all the molestation accusations at the time. So my teacher looked at me with disgust and said that she didn't like him. I just went WHY??!!

Now that I tihnk about it, can you imagine what my teacher was thinking?? a 5 year old girl saying that her favourite singer is a paedophile who aim at kids my age.lol

-

But its sad to see such an iconic person gone from our lives. MJ, the man who made such a weird dance move in the video, Thriller, into something so popular. Its still weird nonetheless but you can't help remembering Michael when you see it.

-

For the past 20 or 30 years of his life, he has tons of accusations of child molestation. I don't know about you but I think those charges were bogus. Maybe it was because of that MJ won the trial. He loved kids doesnt mean that he'll go and molest. Like wth. He even built a Neverland just for himself. I think he even wishes to consider himself as a child just like Peter Pan, never wanting to grow up. But its too late for me to say all this anyway.

-

Michael Jackson will always and forever be the King of Pop and we'll always remember him. Rest in peace, Michael

Rose Colours

here's just a list
cause me and probably many other people
are always wondering what each rose colour represent
-
Red Rose
A single rose is a way of saying 'I love you' or true love
A dark red rose symboizes unconscious beauty
-
Pink Rose
Pink roses carry the message happiness, gracefulness and gentleness.
It is usually given as an expression of admiration
and more ideal to give to girlfriends compared to red roses.
Dark pink roses are used to say thank you or gratitude.
-
White Rose
White represents innocence and purity.
Traditionally associated with weddings and new beginnings.
They also represent honour and reverence.
White rose arrangements are often used as an expression of remembrance.
-
Yellow Rose
Yellow evokes the feelings of warmth and happiness
and are often akin to those shared with a true friend.
Hence, it is an ideal symbol for joy and friendship.
-
Lavendar Rose
The unique colour of a lavendar rose
has captivated many hearts and imaginations
which make them a perfect symbol for enchantment.
They can also be used to express love at first sight.
-
Orange Rose
Due to orange's powerful colour
they often symbolize passion, excitement and fervent romance.
-
Peach Rose
This just looks pink to me but it indicates modesty
-
Blue Rose
This rose does not exist in nature
which reflects the meaning of giving this rose.
Unattainable and the impossible.
-
Black Rose
this rose does not exist in nature either,
but it means death or farewell.
-
Coral Rose
The orange and red mix of the rose makes it look like fire
which makes this rose ideal for symbolizing desire
burning desire?? rawr~ =p

revealing an unhappy past

something happened to me while i was working in excapade
which made me quit one month earlier than i was suppose to
-
The reason I gave to most of you was that
false gossips and rumours spread while i was away for CNY which the boss believed and ended up with me getting fired.
thats partially true but not the complete story.
even to this day, i still cry whenever something reminds me of the incident
i wanted to scream and literally kill myself
-
i was sexually harrassed by the manager
this happened a week before CNY
it was the worst time of my life as I had no one to turn to
The first person I turned to was Jay Ar
he was seriously like a brother to me
he comforted me and i did the same
-
The second person i told was a 'friend'
his first response... laugh
so now he's my ex friend
-
Third person I told was Val because she kinda knew what was going on already.
-
The day after the incident happened,
i slumped to the floor early in the morning before the shop opened and started crying my eyes out
I felt hurt and betrayed
Yudi who was one of the bartenders saw me
he kept comforting me and kept begging me to tell him
Eventually i did and from that day on, he always stuck by me to make sure that the manager does not try to do it again
However, it made his insane girlfriend jealous and she started calling me bitch and so on
They broke up anyway so whatever la. he never loved her anyway.
-
Ate Fhe was the 5th person I told
she advised me to tell the boss which I did
didn't work out as well as you know now
-
I quit work, wanting to go out and have fun and TRY as much as possible to forget the ordeal
but all of my 'FRENS' were too busy with god knows what
I just dealt with it by locking myself in the room with a laptop or tv
The other stupid mistake I did was going to excapade to eat for Valentine's Day
It brought back painful memories
Which just made the depression and crying start all over again
-
About a week after school started,
I seeked the school counsellor, Cikgu Aryati
I felt a bit better but it didn't last long
going to gdg is enough for me to relive my nightmare
I know that time will heal all things but god...
at times i really wish my life would end

I know that I could've reported to the police but i know that the case wouldn't run
there was no proof whatsoever
i'm a 16 year old girl, working underage at a restaurant.
possibly under all the stress and pressure, finally CRACKED.
or maybe i had some weird personal grudge towards the guy.
so who in their right mind would believe me??
plus i still blame myself that it happened
what if I wasn't there? what if I never worked there??
then it would have never happened
-
but here's a little insight on the manager, he's married.he has a daughter and wife who is currently pregnant with their secodn child. he has a girlfriend in KB and another girlfriend in Bandar. AND I was not the first victim, so i've heard.

super busy and super tired day

today has got to be one of my busiest day ever
i went to school but i left at 9.45(during break time) to go for the flu vaccine injection
i had PS after break wa so don't worry
i didn't bring my IC so had to go home to go get it and then go ong sum ping hospital to be jabbed.
-
the funny thing about injections is that the needle poking part doesnt hurt.
the pain is when the liquid goes in
>.< size="2">the vaccine takes at least 10 days to actually work
-
i got back to school and 5 mins late to class.
phew~ hahahaha
i had to run to my locker, pulled out my bag from the left wing and rush to my class in the right wing
-
here's something funny,
i went to the toilet and when i came out, i slipped and fell!!!!
thank god the only person near that area at the time was Iqhwan.hahahaha
i hope no one else saw O.0
i seriously do not know why the toilet floors are always wet.
as in puddles of water kind of wet.
-
anywho~
during lunch, i went to the finance section to TRY and change my shirt
i told that woman that i saw the wrong
and she masih majal2 wanna ask how i see wrong
she lacks social skill and compassion and most importantly, a listening ear,

which i find most ppl with power are having now.
but like in the end, the guy jsut said jsut change my team la cause its so mcm to get me a new shirt.
so im in yellow house now!! xD
finally for the first time me and helmi have something in common in school
-
after school, got cross country trial
BLOODY HELL!!!
he route was fucking long!!!
-
its bad enough that we had to run in the hot 3pm sun.
girls had to run with long pants and long sleeve!!!
wtf!!
shahbandar and tasek was nothing compared to today
cause over there have like trees and fresh air
-
running on the highway is like fucking dangerous and smell the exhaust from cars plus all the dust and tiny stones fly to ur face and with no shade what so ever.
by the time i arrive school, which is around 3.30pm.
i couldnt even hold myself up anymore and my locker key was with helmi (his pants go pocket wa)
after i sat down, i rolled up my pants, kicked off my shoes and just lie on the cold floor
thats like heaven for me already
im so not looking forward to going through that ordeal again on saturday but i have to =/
-
oh yea...
mateen and this other guy cheated!! they use car one!! =p
-
while waiting for my car, i sat with helmi at the exhibition hall.
my mum saw and started asking me who he is and if i know him
thats a stupid question and she knows the answer already so what for i say again??
wasting my breathe
-
well i showered immediately after i got home but my body still feels realyl hot and my cheeks are really pink and my lips are really red
i drank 2 bottles of water leh...still not enough meh??
only 2 possibilities, side effects from the vaccine or SUNBURN!!! T.T
-
well i have to go make tiramisu now cause got ppl order again
i have to make around 25 of 'em
T.T
toora~

Music Concert by the Brunei Music Society

I attended a classical music concert last night at Orchid Garden
i know what you're thinking..
Maybel?? classical music?? roight~
trust me...i had nvr heard of it and i actually didnt wanan go
but Helmi already bought the tickets WITHOUT consulting me first
so how was i supose to say no??
mr john speaking at the opening
-
Susan Galvan the presenter
-
she was telling us that majority of the musicians were
sickly and lonely and miserable
quite funny actually.its a HTBT moment. cant really say much
oh yea..she's married to the hot guy in the next picture ;) the violinist
-

Alfredo Oyaguez on the piano
&
Sebastian See-Schierenberg on the violin
-
Sebastian is actually half british half chinese from Ipoh Malaysia
no wonder he's so hot.hahaha
and his violin is 300 yrs old.like daym~ O.o
he doesnt allow anyone at all to touch it.
not even his wife.talk about prize possession..
-
anyway~-
They played 11 songs in the 2 hours
  1. Sonatine op 137 number 2, 1st movement by Schubert
  2. Liebesleid(sorrow) by Kreisler
  3. Fiorentino: Apres un reve by Faure arr (piano solo)
  4. Melody from Souvenir d'un lieu cher by Tchaikovsky
  5. First rhapsody, 1st movement by Bartok (this was the weirdest songs i've ever heard)
sorry its blurr cause i don wanan use flash
cause so ugly plus it'll annoy others
-
piano solo by Alfredo
-
we had like a half an hour break with some prepared refreshments
we then started the next interval with a guest opera singer, Cynthia
actually when i first saw her upon enterign the room,
i was like 'daym!! im so busted'
hahahaha.and oh, just to clear your doubt, i know her.lol
-
Cynthia singing opera
-
then rest of the songs played were
  1. Sonata, 1st movement by Debussy (i was being immature and kept making fun of the name.lol.but this was a really beatiful song and if i'm not wrong, it has some asian culture mixed into it)
  2. Liebesfreud (joy of love) by Kreisler (a kid who sat infront of us thought that they had finished playing when they hadn't and he started clapping.gawd.i couldn't stop laughing.LOL)
  3. Invierno Porteno by Piazzolla (piano solo)
  4. Romanza andaluza by Sarasate
  5. Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni (another really beauiful song)
  6. Banjo and fiddle by Kroll (i like this alot cause it was really unique and its not like those stereotypical classical musical that can put you to sleep)
Banjo and fiddle were suppose to be their last song but they had an anchore and they played one last song called Summer in Bueno to fit Brunei's weather xD
-
we ended at around 10pm
people pouring down after the performance
-
